Asus UX32VD fan control under Linux

Using this little tool called "nbfc" I was finally able to, get my fan controlled on my Asus Zenbook UX32VD! Trying to control it via using standard utilities never really worked on this laptop, which can be quite annoying especially in public places where silence is expected (libraries).

Once compiled (sources can be found at github) one can use the program by typing following commands into your favourite terminal:

$ sudo ./start-nbfcservice.sh
$ mono nbfc.exe config --apply 'Asus Zenbook UX32VD'
$ mono nbfc.exe set -s 0

This will mute the fan. If the computer starts to get too hot one can reactivate the fan by running:

$ mono nbfc.exe set -a
